NY Knicks: Should NYK make this trade for Damian Lillard?

As a NY Knicks content creator myself, I always dig around the internet for article ideas.

I stumbled across this one late last night while scrolling on Google where the Knicks traded a bunch of stuff and brought back my favorite player in the league today, Damian Lillard.

As this is being written, the Blazers are coming off 5 straight losses, 2 of which were to the Grizzles in back-to-back contests.

Something is very wrong with that team.

As it stands now, Portland is in 7th place in the Western Conference with a record of 32-28 with only 12 games left to play.

Let me start this off by saying I don’t think Portland will be trading Dame any time soon.

He’s shown his allegiance time and time again to both the city of Portland and the Trailblazers for years.

But no matter what that team does to try and improve, they can’t seem to bring in the right pieces to pair with Dame.

What do you think the NY Knicks should trade if Damian Lillard was available?

Sure, he’s had some success in the postseason plenty of times, but I know for a fact he’s not playing his heart out every day to win a playoff series or two.

He wants to win a championship.

Dame is putting together yet another MVP caliber season, but he’s turning 31 this upcoming July.

The clock is ticking and he knows his window to win a title is getting smaller and smaller

Anywho, here’s the trade that was mentioned:

First off, I don’t see Portland accepting that offer. I also don’t see the Knicks extending that offer but if that was all it took to net Damian Lillard, the Knicks would be fools not to accept.

I guess the guy who wrote this article is a Knicks fan because I think he’s slightly overvaluing RJ Barrett in the deal.

If you look at any of the trades that have happened for top-10 or 15 caliber players in recent history, that’s just not enough to get the deal done.

Also, at this point, I view RJ Barrett as someone who is untouchable.

He’s proven that he works on his craft and is willing to put in the work to get better.

Whenever the Knicks win a title, I would hope RJ is on that roster.

If I was Leon Rose, here’s a trade offer I’d rather put on the table:

Obi Toppin getting trade is inevitable in my opinion. When it happens is the only question.

As much as I love Immanuel Quickley, he is expendable if the right offer came our way.

Mitch cannot seem to stay healthy but still holds value as a premier rim-protector with a high ceiling.

Frank could be a really solid role player in the future for the Knicks but again if the right deal came around…he gone.

I know what a lot of you are going to say about the number of picks and I get it, but this is why the Knicks have been stockpiling them for so many years.

I hate to break it to y’all but we’re in New York City…the biggest media market on the planet.

Also, Coach Thibs hates rookies anyway. The Knicks are not going to be building organically for much longer.

I would die a happy man if Dame were on my favorite team when they win a title.

I’ve discussed what I think the Knicks could do next year to improve the starting PG spot, and this trade would be the ultimate quick fix.

Imagine a lineup of Dame, Reggie, RJ, Randle, and Noel…

A boy can dream.
