Should the NY Knicks look into Evan Fournier again?

I tussled with this 3rd option for a little bit, as the available options past DeRozan and Kawhi are pretty thin.

I considered Otto Porter Jr but between his health concerns and his scoring on a downward trend, I’m not sure how much better of an option he is over Reggie Bullock if at all.

I also considered Andre Iguodala but again, not sure if he’s any better than Reggie plus he’s far past his prime.

Kelly Oubre Jr crossed my mind for a split second but then I looked at his stats and he’s super inconsistent and don’t think he would mesh well with the culture the Knicks are developing.

Evan Fournier was a favorite target of mine at this year’s deadline and got super excited when Ian Begley reported that the Knicks were dipping their toes in the idea of acquiring the sharpshooting Frenchman.

To say this bluntly, Fournier has been nothing more than a hot, steaming pile of garbage ever since he was traded to the Celtics.

In 5 games he’s averaging just 9.6 points per game compared to the 19.7 he averaged with Orlando before the trade.

This poor performance may tank his value when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

The Knicks may be able to swoop in and grab him for peanuts on a 1-year prove-it deal and help him restore his old production.

Fournier is a bit slow of foot, so this prevents him from being able to play good defense but I’m of the belief that Coach Thibs understands basketball defense on an other-worldly level so anyone who’s coached by him will at the very least become a competent defender.

He can do a little playmaking and is a tremendous inside and outside scorer.

Depending on how much money he’s asking for, I’d love for him to be a Knick in the future.
