Could Kawhi Leonard be a target for the NY Knicks?

I know I’m seriously reaching here but in all reality, this could happen.

The Clippers are currently in 3rd place in the West but that has a lot to do with the Lakers being without both LeBron James and Anthony Davis as well as the Nuggets being with Jamal Murray.

Both of those teams could easily jump the Clippers in the standings if they were fully healthy.

In all likelihood, Kawhi is going to re-sign in LA, we all know this.

But let’s just say…the Clippers get bounced in the 2nd round.

Kawhi becomes a free agent.

He realizes that the Clipper curse is real and he’s never going to win another title if he stays.

But then he looks at this new-look Knicks team with a brand new President of Basketball operations who seems to have found a way to keep James Dolan out of the day-to-day dealings.

A highly respected head coach who is defensive-minded and has a proven track record of success.

An All-Star caliber teammate in Julius Randle as his running mate.

A young, up-and-coming star in the making in RJ Barrett.

Tons of draft capital for the future.

While being in the Mecca of basketball…the largest media market in the universe.

You’re telling me Kawhi isn’t at least going to consider it?

Easy answer. He will.

Kawhi and his team have considered the Knicks in the past but New York backed out of the meeting.

I’ll be the first to say that it would have been a mistake for him to choose them back then anyway.

Now, not so much.
