Nerlens Noel has stepped up for the Knicks

Nerlens Noel, who was an original backup center signing to Mitchell Robinson, has been given the opportunity to flourish, and boy has he.

Mitchell Robinson is a fan favorite, and rightfully so, who doesn’t love him. Each season his personality is shining more and more, and his game is doing the same thing. One of the bright young players who has limitless potential in the NBA.

However, Robinson has not had the best luck this season. Although he has played well, his season is likely done after getting his second surgery in 2 months. First his hand, now his foot. I for one thought we were doomed when I learned about the injury… But then Nerlens Noel entered the chat.

Nerlens Noel has done a spectacular job filling in as our starting center, and I don’t say that lightly. The Knicks have really not skipped a single beat with Robinson out. Per my previous article, I stated how impactful Nerlens Noel’s performance has been.

1st in NBA in defensive plus-minus and 2nd in block% needs to be talked about way more. The play of Noel has allowed the Knicks to increase their defensive intensity that much more.

Our guards know they can play their man tightly and not worry about getting blown by because Noel is always right there to protect the rim.

Oh yea, by the way, Nerlens Noel is also doing all of this on a one-year contract, making $5 million.

The Knicks will inevitably have some decisions to make moving forward involving Mitchell Robinson and Nerlens Noel.

But for now, let’s enjoy what we have.
