NY Knicks: Reacting to 3 recent Julius Randle trade concepts
NY Knicks Julius Randle Trade Rumor #2
This one is even dumber than the last one.
I hate to call out a fellow FanSider, but my colleague Orestis Rantis with Hoops Habit wrote this article about 3 months ago and I had a hard time choosing which of these trades I wanted to rip apart the most.
The one where the Knicks traded Julius Randle straight up for Buddy Hield would have made some sense back then.
The other where Victor Oladipo came to the Knicks made a little less sense because of all the depth Indiana has in their frontcourt, but again, I could see why the trade could have happened.
But Cody Zeller and a 2021 first?!?!?!?!?
C’mon…
Really?
Not only did the Knicks not need a center whatsoever at the time this idea was curated but the pick would most likely be in the 20-25 range if Charlotte were to add today’s version of Randle to their current roster and the only piece they’d be losing is their BACKUP center in Zeller.
Joke.
At this point, in order for this trade to happen, Charlotte would probably have to throw in 2 more first-round picks and a couple of pick swaps and I’m still not considering it if I’m Leon Rose.
I really do want to take these last few sentences and give a huge shoutout to Sir Leon because the man should seriously be in contention for Executive of the Year.
The moves he’s made so far have been terrific but more importantly, the moves he hasn’t made might be even better.
I finally have faith in the Knicks’ front office from top to bottom to no longer get fleeced on every freakin’ trade moving forward.
