The NY Knicks are absolutely on a roll. After defeating the Atlanta Hawks, the Knicks have now won 8 games in a row, which is the longest active winning streak in the NBA. Furthermore, the Knicks are now 33 and 27 which puts them at the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks are obliterating expectations, as they were projected by most sports outlets to be a rock bottom team yet again this year.

The biggest strength of this New York Knicks team has been their top-ranked defense which currently ranks 3rd in the league in defensive efficiency. Another big strength of this team has been their depth. The NY Knicks have several players on the team that can step up and have a big performance on any given night. Because of these nightly contributions, the Knicks can still get a win even if they receive an off-shooting night from Julius Randle or RJ Barrett.

The Knicks 5 man second unit has been outplaying other team’s second units and because the Knicks have so many good players on their bench, they’ve been able to survive injuries to key players throughout the year. Leon Rose and company did a great job through the draft, trade, and free agency of putting a good, deep roster together.

Unfortunately, a lot of the guys that the Knicks rely upon are set to become unrestricted free agents after this year. Because of the way the free agency works the Knicks likely won’t be able to keep everybody, but they should at least try to keep some of the guys that have helped them to have such a deep bench. Here are three current players on the Knicks that the front office needs to strongly consider resigning.
