Should the NY Knicks target Gerald Green?

Gerald Green intrigues me because if there’s anyone in the league that reminds me of the former Knick JR SMith, it’s Green.

He came into the league as the 18th pick in the 2005 draft by the Boston Celtics.

He’s jumped around the league and has also played overseas a bunch since becoming a pro.

A streaky scorer who was once one of the most athletic, bouncy guards in the league.

His athleticism has dwindled a bit but he could make up for that with his finishing ability at the rim and is also a competent long-range shooter.

Even with several down seasons, he’s a lifelong 36% shooter from deep.

When given the opportunity, he scores in bunches so even with incredibly limited minutes on this Knicks roster, I think he can impact whatever games he has a chance to get into.

I think someone like Green could have a solid impact on a player like Immanuel Quickley, as they’re both more of a 6th man, dominant scorer off the bench.

He could also be a good player to keep around Obi Toppin because Green made his name in the league as a purely athletic player with somewhat limited skills elsewhere.

Even though they play different positions, in a few ways they’re very similar players.
