NY Knicks: Otto Porter Jr. is an affordable option

Recently, Otto Porter Jr. chose not to request a buyout after being traded to the Orlando Magic as part of the Nikola Vucevic deal. Porter might be the most talented player on that Magic team, meaning he can show his value for free agency.

Porter is everything Tom Thibodeau would want. He can defend both wings and forwards, and is a career 40% three-point shooter. He plays both sides of the court with heart and is the best defender of the three people on this list.

He also seems like the most likely option out of these three and might be a starter with the NY Knicks, replacing Reggie Bullock, should the Knicks let him walk. The Knicks are a team that could give him good minutes, and he could help court spacing at the forward spot with the Knicks.

Porter could flourish defensively under Thibodeau, and with teams doubling Randle, he could get a lot of open looks.  If Randle were to be double-teamed, and the Knicks were to have Barrett, Porter, and Immanuel Quickley on the perimeter, one of them would get open, as the defense will not leave a center alone in the paint.

Signing Porter gives the Knicks another perimeter shooter to help while also not sacrificing any defense. Porter’s asking price will also probably be lower than the asking prices of Robinson and Fournier. It is a move that really cannot hurt the Knicks, and he could end up being an ideal fit with the team.

Next. Reggie Bullock has quietly become a key role player. dark
