2021 NBA Draft NY Knicks Final 4 Target #4 – Quentin Grimes

Another transfer from an objectively better program, Quentin Grimes could be one of the steals of this year’s draft.

Grimes started his collegiate career in Kansas but shortly after transferred to Houston.

Coming off of a season where he scored 18 points, nearly 6 boards, a steal and a half while shooting over 41% from deep, he’s only projected to go in the early to middle of the 2nd round.

Goes to show how absolutely stacked this season’s draft really is.

He’s definitely better off-ball than on, which would work well for the Knicks seeing how they have two very ball-dominant players in RJ Barrett and Julius Randle.

Grimes also plays very good on-ball defense, so in a few years, I could definitely see him as a starting 2-guard if the Knicks moved RJ over to the small forward full time.

Reminds me a bit of Joe Harris with a bit more athleticism and ball skills.

Depending on what the Knicks do with any of their 4 draft picks, if they decide to keep Detroit’s second-rounder, they’d be wise to use it on Grimes if he’s still on the board at around pick 31-32.

Seeing how Houston matches up well against Baylor, I could easily see his draft stock skyrocketing and Grimes being taken in the late 1st round which might require some maneuvering for the Knicks to have a shot at him.
