The Knicks need more 3 point shot attempts

Lastly, if New York wants to get better as a team they need to get off more 3 point attempts. The Knicks actually shoot one of the highest percentages from 3 in the league. As a team, they shoot 37.5% from 3 which ranks 12th in the league. The issue is that they don’t get off enough 3 point attempts. They rank 2nd to last in the league in 3 point shot attempts a game. This has contributed mighty to an underwhelming offense, as the Knicks only rank 23rd in the league in offensive efficiency. Just simply getting more 3 point shot attempts off would make a massive difference.

This issue goes hand in hand with the team’s lack of quality point guard play. Because the team does not get much playmaking from their point guards, the offense doesn’t generate a lot of open 3s. They desperately needed Rose back in the lineup because he can generate plenty of open 3 pointers with his ability to drive and kick.

New York needs to make it an emphasis to move the ball more on offense and kick it out to open shooters. The best offensive teams in the league constantly swing the ball around and sacrifice good shots for great shots which allows them to generate plenty of open catch and shoot 3s. If the Knicks need to tweak their offense and get better playmaking out of their point guards they should be able to get more 3 pointers off which would improve the team offense.
