The 2020-2021 NBA season has been an extremely successful season for the New York Knicks. As this article is being written the Knicks have a record of 23 and 22 which puts them in a three-way tie for the 4th seed in the East. The team has a legit coach of the year candidate in Tom Thibodeau and they’ve established themselves four strong building blocks between RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and Immanuel Quickley.

Additionally, the team owns 7 first-round picks in the next 5 drafts and is set to have plenty of cap space going forward, so the Knicks rebuild is in excellent shape. While the Knicks have become a decent NBA team midway through the season, there’s still a lot of games left that they have to win if they want to make the playoffs. They’re a top 5 defensive team, currently ranking 4th in defensive efficiency, they have a legit all-star player in Julius Randle, who at age 26 will likely only get better, and the Knicks have a deep team with multiple scoring options, currently having 6 players with scoring averages in double figures.

While New York has many strengths, they also have some weaknesses that they need to address if they want to continue winning games and quality for the postseason. Here are the 3 main areas the Knicks need to improve before the regular season ends.
