NY Knicks: 3 Potential Eric Bledsoe trades at the deadline
By Max LoSardo
Lonzo Ball isn’t the only Pelicans Guard the NY Knicks have their eye on. SNY’s Ian Begley reported that the Pelicans have discussed shipping Bledsoe with a first-round pick to New York. The Pelicans received Bledsoe over the offseason as part of a package for point guard Jrue Holiday.
Bledsoe’s had a mediocre season, averaging 11.3 points with only 3.7 assists. He hasn’t particularly fit in well in New Orleans, especially as Zion Williamson has been given more ball-handling responsibilities. Bledsoe has a salary of $16.9 million this season. The Knicks have $15.1 million in space and would have no trouble making room for the 31-year-old. Bledsoe makes $18.1 million in 2021-2022 and 19.3 million in 2022-2023. However, his contract isn’t as bad as it sounds, as the 2022-2023 season is only partially guaranteed for $3.9 million.
The NY Knicks could get creative with an Eric Bledsoe trade
He has been named all defense twice in his career and could fit in well in Coach Tom Thibodeau’s system. He’s a veteran who would provide depth in an injury-plagued backcourt. Bledsoe may also not be alone in packing his bags from New Orleans to New York, as the Knicks have now been linked to Ball, Bledsoe, and JJ Redick. Forbes’ Mike Mazzeo also reported that the Knicks may try and find a third team to take on Bledsoe’s contract. Here are three potential trades in which Bledsoe ends up in New York.
