The NY Knicks have been keeping tabs on some available point guards, and The Indiana Pacers are reportedly taking calls for Malcolm Brogdon – This could be the Knicks’ chance.

With the trade deadline fast approaching this Thursday, the New York Knicks have been linked to dozens of trade rumors, some from us (you’re welcome). The latest rumor out there is via Vincent Goodwill from Yahoo Sports who has reported that the Indiana Pacers have been taking calls about a potential Malcolm Brogdon trade.

If The Pacers are indeed taking calls for the 28-year old point guard, the New York Knicks should certainly do their due diligence and figure out what the asking price for Brogdon is. With all the rumors out about Victor Oladipo and Lonzo Ball, let’s take a look at a different approach and see what it would take for the Knicks to acquire the star(?) guard from the Pacers.

NY Knicks: What would Malcolm Brogdon bring?

Malcolm Brogdon is a 28-year old combo guard who’s in his 5th season in the league. He’s currently averaging 21.6pts, 4.7trbs, and 6.1ast on 46/39.8/87.7 splits. While Brogdon isn’t in the top tier of guards in the league, with the likes of Curry, Lillard, etc. he is the second tier of guards. He’s much closer to a Fred VanFleet type player than a Stephen Curry type superstar.

Brogdon is a stout 2-way player who’s been the head of the Pacers’ perimeter defense and main ball-handler the past couple of years. He’s having the best overall season of his career and he could immediately step in and make an instant impact on the Knicks. He would help alleviate the scoring burden from Barrett and Randle as well as handle more playmaking responsibilities to give Julius a breather from carrying the team so hard.

He would not be easy to acquire. I personally don’t see how or why the Pacers would ever trade Brogdon when he’s clearly their second-best player and primary shot creator. If the Knicks can find a way to trade for the former Rookie of The Year, it will cost a lot, probably more than fans would be comfortable with. With all the Lonzo Ball rumors, we still wouldn’t know how much he’d cost until free agency. With Brogdon, you know you’re getting a player in his prime for $22 mil for the next 3 seasons – A much more sure thing financially.

NY Knicks: Trade Package For Malcolm Brogdon

According to The Vincent’s Yahoo article, Aaron Holiday has fallen out of favor with the Pacers and his inclusion would be a nice pick up for the NY Knicks. If I’m the Knicks, I’m not trading any more than the offer I proposed above.

This package might not even get it done, they may need to include another first instead of their 2nd next year, I mean Jerami Grant is worth multiple 1st’s and apparently so is Aaron Gordon, and no offense to them but Brogdon is much better than either of those players.

It has been reported that the NY Knicks aren’t going to swing big at the deadline and I think that’s something the whole fanbase would prefer unless there is an offer that is too good to pass up.
