NY Knicks likely Trade Target #1 – Victor Oladipo

If you asked me 2 months ago if I wanted the Knicks to break the bank for Victor Oladipo, I honestly would have said yes a million times over.

In fact, I’ve written about an Oladipo trade not terribly too long ago.

Now, I just don’t believe he’d be worth the money he’ll inevitably be asking for come to the end of this season.

According to ESPN, Victor Oladipo turned down 2-year, $45.2 million extension from the Houston Rockets.

Maybe he was just looking for more years on his deal for long-term security but even so, I would hope the Knicks are done overpaying for players with terrible knee injuries and have learned their lesson.

If he wanted say, something in the ballpark of 3-years, $45 million to re-up with the Knicks, I’d feel better about that kind of deal but he’s likely going to be asking for far too much on an annual basis for my liking.

Now, take into consideration that the Knicks also traded assets to acquire him…now they’ve handcuffed themselves to having to re-sign him or lose him along with whatever they sent over to Houston for nothing.

Let’s leave the dumb deals in the past and focus on making smart, savvy moves where the Knicks come away as the winner of the trades they’re in.
