A trade wouldn’t make the NY Knicks that much better

Let’s take a reality check here. Is there really a trade out there that would transition the Knicks from a probable playoff team to a championship contender? My answer to this is probably not. Let’s bring Bradley Beal and Zach Lavine into the conversation here because once again, those are the names that keep getting brought up with the Knicks in regard to a big trade.

First off, Bradley Beal has Russell Westbrook and the Wizards are still 2.5 games away from the 10 seed. Second of all, Zach Lavine’s Bulls are 18-21. I’m not questioning the talent of these players but to me, it’s been proven that these guys wouldn’t really match the Knicks up with teams like the Bucks, Nets, and 76ers who one of which is probably going to come out of the East.

Plus, this current Knicks team is fun! It’s been really exhilarating watching RJ Barrett rapidly improve throughout the year and the games where Reggie Bullock and Alec Burks go off for five-plus 3s each can be really entertaining! My point here is I really don’t think anything can be done right now to make the Knicks win an extra playoff series, become a lot more of a threat, etc.

I would really like to see where the Knicks can finish with the team they’ve built as of now and use that to determine what they need to build on in the offseason. So many things can happen in the remaining games and there’s so much that can still be learned about this roster.
