Elfrid Payton NY Knicks Trade #2 – Aaron Nesmith

Yeah, I know…I’ve written about a variant of this trade twice already.

What can I say? When I like an idea of my own, I try to will it into existence.

This isn’t a ‘win now’ move by any stretch of the imagination, in fact, it’s the exact opposite.

This is a ‘win now’ move for the Celtics, as they can really use an upgrade at the guard position off the bench.

I just love Nesmith’s upside here, so I am willing to part with Elfird Payton as well as the ever-so-valuable Detroit 2nd rounder this year in exchange for Nesmith.

The reason being that Payton won’t be back next season and whatever player we draft with either of the two picks involved in the trade most likely won’t be as good as Aaron Nesmith will be within the next 12-24 months.

I’m a huge sucker for good shooters. I liked shooting before it was cool to like shooting.

I was the guy who’d start a franchise mode up on NBA Live 2007 and start trading for guys like Kyle Korver, Steve Nash, and Peja Stojakovic.

I once went absolutely bonkers with Kyle Korver and put up 60 points in one game…all three-pointers.

Needless to say, I value shooting.

Nesmith was arguably the best shooter in last year’s draft class, and while it hasn’t much translated to the NBA as of yet, it’ll come once he actually gets some real playing time.
