Could a Dougie McBuckets reunion help the NY Knicks?

With the second trade, New York acquires sharpshooter Doug McDermott.

This isn’t McDermott’s first stint with the team as he was on the roster back during the 2017-18 season.

He played 55 games for the Knicks before they traded him at the trade deadline for Emmanuel Mudiay.

In this trade, New York sends over Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina for Doug McDermott.

McDermott is a solid player for the Pacers but he’s on an expiring contract so the Pacers make this move to acquire two decent young players that could fit their timeline.

Both Kevin Knox and Frank Ntlikina are underwhelming for top 10 draft picks but they have both shown flashes of being decent players this year.

For the Knicks, Doug McDermott would be another player that can bolster the bench and at 6’8 he can play either forward position.

On the year, McDermott is averaging 13 points per game on 50% shooting from the field and 37.5% shooting from 3.

He would give the Knicks a player that moves really well off the ball and can knock down 3 point shots off screens.

However, McDermott isn’t just a one-dimensional 3 point specialist. He can also put the ball on the floor and get to the basket and he can use the threat of his jump shot to easily beat defenders.

New York desperately needs more outside shooting and another serious scoring threat on the roster so this is an addition that would improve the team greatly.
