The NY Knicks have set themselves up very nicely for a 2021 NBA draft that’s loaded with talent. They hold two picks in the first round as well as two picks in the second round. With that being said, the Knicks have significantly improved this year, but they still have a lot of needs that must be addressed.

The point guard position has been a massive problem for the Knicks in recent years and should be one of the team’s top priorities. While the team did bring in Derrick Rose in a deal with the Detroit Pistons, that was more of a short-term solution. Rose, at 32 years old and after multiple surgeries, has played well since joining the team but was mainly brought in for his leadership on such a young team.

Immanuel Quickley has been very efficient for the Knicks at the point guard position but lacks the defensive prowess to start in coach Tom Thibodeau’s system. He is better suited coming off the bench as a spark plug.

The Knicks also need a small forward who can shoot, play defense, and spread the floor. Their experiment in turning Kevin Knox into their starting small forward has failed and has given them a massive hole in the team’s starting five.

Overall, the Knicks should look to improve their offense in this year’s draft. While they currently have one of the best defensive units in the league, their offense ranks amongst the worst. Being that RJ Barrett is versatile and can play at shooting guard and small forward, drafting a shooting guard that can play alongside Barrett could also be beneficial.

Next, I will be talking about three specific players in this year’s draft that I feel would best fit the Knicks.
