Knicks Rumors: Warriors could drive up the price for the NY Knicks

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor recently reported that the Golden State Warriors have shown interest in Victor Oladipo. The Warriors have the same exact record as the Knicks at 19-18, but they currently sit 9th in the competitive Western Conference.

The Warriors are in an interesting spot this season – Heading into the year, they felt like they could be a contender in the West. That was until Klay Thompson suffered yet another devastating injury in November, and the team had to adjust their expectations.

The Warriors want to remain competitive. Outside of Klay Thompson, the team has been mostly healthy, and they want to take advantage of the remaining prime years of their superstar Stephen Curry. Oladipo would be an interesting fit alongside him.

While the focal point of the team will always be Curry, Oladipo can provide them with some secondary playmaking that they don’t have. It would take a lot of pressure off their star. Oladipo’s all-around game would fit nicely with the roster The Warriors currently have, and I think playing for Steve Kerr could reinvigorate Oladipo.

The Rockets would surely inquire about the Warriors’ prized prospect James Wiseman, but I see no world where the Warriors would give him up. The Warriors, like the NY Knicks, have a high 2nd round pick – They own the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2021 2nd rounder AND their 1st rounder (Top-3 Protected). I don’t think they’d be willing to trade the 1st, but they certainly could build an interesting package involving some combinations of Kelly Oubre, other draft picks, Eric Paschall, Mycal Mulder, and more.
