Knicks’ Best All-Star Appearances: #39-30

39. Kristaps Porzingis, 2018

Does DNP stand for Did Not Play or Don’t Need Porzingis? Porzingis did not suit up due to injury (*This is my shocked face*) in his lone All-Star Selection with the Knicks as part of Team Lebron, who won without him.

38. Patrick Ewing, 1986

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and Ewing missed a whole game’s worth. He was selected to the team but did not play. This one is lower than his other DNP since he wasn’t replaced. One other player got a DNP for the game with no replacement that year, and you may have heard of him.

37. Patrick Ewing, 1997

This is our last DNP on the list. I ranked this one higher than the DNP in 1986 because Ewing was replaced on the roster by Chris Webber.

36. David Lee, 2010

David Lee had a forgettable stat line in his only All-Star Game. In 12:26 of game time, he had four points, two rebounds,  one assist, and three turnovers.

35. Earl Monroe, 1977

Earl Monroe played a quarter of an hour with four points, one rebound, and one assist in a losing effort.

34. Charles Oakley, 1994

Oakley logged the fewest minutes of any New York Knicks player on the list who actually played in the game. He had a respectable three rebounds and three assists, but he had more fouls (3) than points (2).

33. Patrick Ewing, 1995

Despite having the most All-Star appearances of anyone on this list, do not be surprised if you see him on the back half a lot more than the first half. The All-Star Game was not Ewing’s best forum. In the 1995 game, Ewing had a respectable 10 points, but only 3 rebounds, one assist, and one steal. He blocked zero shots. He also had five turnovers in 22 minutes.

32. Carmelo Anthony, 2015

This one should arguably be lower because it happened in the World’s Most Famous Arena (Registered Trademark of The World’s Most Famous Arena, Inc.). In his home gym, Carmelo Anthony scored 14 points on 20 shots, including 1/13 from three-point range. The Eastern Conference lost on a night that Melo might have been forcing things above Penn Station.

31. Carmelo Anthony, 2017

Sure, he shot a respectable 50% from the floor, but he only scored 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in a game where the two teams combined for 374 points.

30. Allan Houston, 2000

Some games will be ranked higher simply because they are just meh rather than bad. Houston got up 10 shots in 18 minutes, but he only made three of them.
