NY Knicks: 3 Draft “busts” the Knicks could trade for
By Mark Wessol
NY Knicks Trade #2: Ben McLemore
This trade would be for one reason and one reason only, three-point shooting.
The once Kansas Jayhawk sharpshooter has lost his NBA footing. Mclemore is on team number three in his eighth year as an NBA player and is floating around being a bust.
His minutes have been erratic his whole career and the Houston Rockets are clearly looking to get younger in their rebuilding process.
Although his performances may be a little shaky, one thing that has been somewhat consistent is his three-point shot. Mclemore has shot at least 36% from behind the arc in five of his seven seasons, this year to be determined.
Where would Ben Mclemore fit in this team?
The Knicks have shot the three-ball somewhat well for their standards, but can always improve.
Whether the Knicks would decide to start Alec Burks and have Mclemore come off the bench or vice versa, Reggie Bullock’s minutes need to be changed, and this trade would do so.
A potential knockdown shooter to go along with the shooting of Immanuel Quickley, Alec Burks, and Julius Randle would only help New York. If you don’t score, you don’t win, Mclemore could rejuvenate his career with a move to The Mecca.
The Rockets are in an unfortunate position after losing superstar James Harden to the team that plays in Brooklyn, yuck. They have some promising players like Christian Wood and Victor Oladipo, despite being in trade rumors himself.
But they without a doubt need to rebuild and focus on getting younger which the Knicks 2022 second-round pick could help with. Adding a promising young player like Iggy Brazdeikis who is currently killing it for Westchester could help the Rockets too if given an opportunity.
