If Luka Doncic forced a trade to the New York Knicks, it would serve as one of the most epic turns of events in NBA history.
While listening to ESPN Radio on March 2nd, I stumbled across an episode of Bart & Hahn with a guest appearance by Jay Williams, ESPN Analyst and former NBA player.
At around the 12-minute mark, the three begin to discuss an idea brought up by Brian Windhorst, another ESPN analyst, and writer, stating that he believed that within the next 12 months that an NBA Superstar could force a trade to the Knicks.
Luka Doncic to the Knicks? A boy can dream, can’t he?
There are some players that I think are more than likely to want to do so which I will be touching on in an article in the near future.
Jay Williams interestingly brought up the idea of Dallas Mavs phenom, Luka Doncic wanting to come to play in New York.
It would only take someone about 10 seconds to find the picture of Luka Doncic as a child wearing a Carmelo Anthony t-shirt, so we know he was once a Knicks fan.
Maybe the Slovenian Mega-Star follows in his idol’s footsteps and comes to be the savior of NYC.
Dream big, kiddos.
Jay Williams noted that Luka Doncic contributes 45% of Dallas’ points between assisting other players and scoring himself night-in and night-out.
The Mavs front office just is not doing enough for Luka to pair him with the right players where they can actually compete in the West, and since last season, they’ve regressed mightily.
Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban would never allow the team to let Luka go that easily, so I don’t think this is a realistic scenario whatsoever…but maybe, JUST maybe, in the not too distant future, Luka Doncic gets fed up and demands he be traded to The Mecca of Basketball.
It’s funny how the universe works.
The Knicks and the entire fanbase get lambasted by the media and fans of other teams for the Kristaps Porzingis trade.
I’ve touched on how I believed the Knicks have already won the Porzingis trade, and while most don’t agree with my sentiment, if the Knicks stole Luka away from Dallas then it would all come full-circle and normalcy would be restored.
An eye for an eye? More like an eye for an eye, a leg, both arms, and your wallet.
