The Knicks’ Rookies Shine

The NBA Draft has long been a place where the players that end up wearing orange and blue just don’t work out, but first-round picks Obi Toppin and Immanuel Quickley are rewriting that narrative.

Out of Kentucky, Quickley wasn’t even projected to be a first-round pick, so it was shocking when the Knicks selected him at 25th overall. Now, it looks like it’ll be the steal of the draft – by a wide margin.

Quickley has become a fan favorite already with his shooting ability, basketball IQ, and of course, his floaters. He’s been dazzling to watch – as fans celebrate his fantastic play while opponents wonder just how to stop him.

Toppin was the talk of draft night, the Knicks selecting him at 8th overall out of Dayton. Injuries have hurt the start of his professional career, but he’s come along over the Knicks’ recent stretch of games.

Finally, the pair of rookies will have their chance to light up Madison Square Garden in front of fans.

The first ‘Three-pointer, Immanuel Quickley’ from Knicks’ PA announcer, Mike Walczewski with authentic cheers behind it will be music to our ears. Imagine the roar of the crowd when he does his best Steph Curry impression against their upcoming opponent, the Golden State Warriors – draining threes while four steps behind the line.

Toppin’s been shooting threes better as well, but we can’t wait to watch him soar through the air and end a possession with an emphatic dunk. His monster slams eliciting the crowd’s energy is something he hasn’t been able to hear since he was at Dayton.

The Knicks’ rookies have come in and helped change the narrative around the team – they’ve earned their chance to shine in front of the team’s faithful.
