Knicks: Mitchell Robinson’s injury:

A collective gasp rang out amongst Knicks fans as they watched Mitchell Robinson fracture his right hand during a win against the Washington Wizards. Expected to miss four-to-six weeks, this is obviously a huge loss for the Knicks.

In the short-term, Thibs will lean on Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson to fill those minutes at center. Thibodeau also mentioned rookie Obi Toppin as a potential candidate at center as well, however, thus far, Toppin has played 99 percent of his 228 professional minutes at the power forward position.

Robinson’s stats don’t necessarily jump off the pages of the box score, however, the Louisiana-native has kept his fouls down and has been the anchor of one of the best defenses in the NBA all season long. Robinson’s rebounding numbers are up and he is leading the NBA in box-outs per game. Robinson has shown significant improvements in his strength and positioning under the rim, and it’s incredibly disappointing to see him sidelined.

As a result of Robinson’s injury, the Knicks have been rumored to be in connection with Cleveland Cavalier’s center Andre Drummond. Earlier this week, it was reported that the Cavs would stop playing Drummond while they worked to find a trade partner for two-time All-Star. Despite his numbers, personally, I want no part of Drummond on the Knicks. He’s a limited player that doesn’t factor into our future, and I’m not comfortable with giving up draft capital for him.
