Julius Randle should be a part of the team’s future

Though it isn’t a lock that Randle will be selected as an All-Star, Randle has helped change the energy around the Knicks, an energy that hasn’t been felt in a very long time. Things are simply different.

With this new front office, coaching staff, and group of players, everyone wants to see each person achieve. Having a leader like Randle who is currently experiencing the ups this season and has experienced the downs last season, is a good one to have because he of all people knows that you can’t get too high or low.

It is understandable why the word “trade” comes to mind when thinking of Julius Randle. His value is amazing right now because of his production, and he has a team option, which means other teams will want him.

The Knicks are currently building something right now and it seems like they are headed in the right direction. A winning culture needs to be established in order for the franchise to not only get the marquee free agents but get credibility back, not only around the league but for those watching all over the world.

Trading Randle this season would only bring back the same old narratives that have plagued the franchise for a long time, regardless if the team gets back picks or young players.

Questions such as “Why would they trade their best player”, or the saying “Knicks are gonna Knicks”, is tiring.

The New York Knicks no longer want to be the media punching bag, and with Randle’s play, he has helped lessen the negative narrative.

Besides Coach Thibodeau, Randle is the main reason why the Knicks are getting the notoriety they have deserved this season. He is helping establish the culture and the entire team is following his lead.

No one knows what the future holds, but what is known is that Randle has earned his keep.
