Alec Burks

Despite currently being out with an ankle sprain, Alec Burks was a huge part of the team’s first three games. His offensive production helped the squad kick off their winning ways with an 18-point performance in the Knicks’ blowout win against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 29-year old shooting guard has always been an offensive spark wherever he goes, providing scoring both as a starter and off the bench. He also flashed some playmaking potential this year, averaging 3.7 assists per game before his injury.

The team went just 1-2 in the games that Burks suited up in, but he definitely carried his weight. The Knicks outscored their opponents by 24 points throughout the 83 minutes that Burks played this year.

The journeyman forward bounced around the league after spending seven years with the Utah Jazz and has been a part of three separate playoff teams. Burks has a winning pedigree that should help keep a young Knicks roster afloat during a long 72-game season.

He likely won’t maintain his 20.7 points per game scoring average but he could still take on the scoring load for a few stretches each night when he returns to action. For a team that’ll probably be running a 7-8 man rotation for the next week or so, he’ll be a welcome addition.
