Knicks: 3 Mitchell Robinson trades that make NY better
Mitch Trade Idea: Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson to the Wizards for Thomas Bryant, Rui Hachimura, Jerome Robinson, two 1st round picks and a future 2nd round pick
The Washington wizards want to win, and they want to win now. Nothing would prove that more so than this kind of trade. There was some speculation that both Randle and Mitch would be running pick and rolls or catching lobs from Russ, but no one thought it would be for the Wizards.
While losing Bryant after his breakout season may sting a bit for Wizards fans, they’d be getting in return Mitchell Robinson, who I think can easily replicate Bryant’s 13 points per game with much better efficiency. Moreover, Washington would be upgrading on the defensive side of the ball by a mile.
Needless to say, Julius Randle is by far the superior player when compared to Rui. The Wizards would be getting an instant injection of 7 more points, 4 more rebounds, and 2 more assists per game out of their power-forward spot. Now, I would be concerned with Bradley Beal’s head exploding when Russ and Randle turn the ball over about 47 times per game combined, but fortunately, that’s not my problem to solve.
The Knicks would receive the two players mentioned previously along with a slew of future picks…..go figure! Washington would send Chicago’s 2023 2nd round pick in what’s being called the first “double draft” where the NBA is expected to start allowing players to be drafted directly from high school again. Additionally, the Knicks would get a pair of lightly protected future 1st round picks (Top-10 protected in 2025 and Top-5 protected in 2027) in the deal.
Possible Knicks lineup – Elfrid Payton, Alec Burks, RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin, Thomas Bryant
