Mitch Trade Idea: 3-team trade: Buddy Hield, Richaun Holmes, 2 protected 2nd round picks (from BOS) to NYK; Julius Randle, Frank Ntilikina, Robert Williams, 2021 Lottery protected 1st round pick (from BOS) to SAC; Mitchell Robinson to BOS

Can anyone tell how much I want Buddy Hield? Is it obvious yet?

Word on the street is there was a deal in place where Frank and Julius were on their way to Sacramento for Buddy Hield. The only apparent hold-up was that the Kings also wanted one of New York’s 1st rounders in return, in which the Knicks were wisely reluctant not to oblige. Instead, in my proposed trade, they would be moving a heavily-protected Boston 1st that was never ours, to begin with.

This trade benefits all teams involved. The Celtics get a major upgrade at the 5-spot, as Mitch is someone who’s making next to nothing for this season upcoming and next. The Knicks finally get their paws on arguably one of the best shooters in the league and replace Mitch with Richaun Holmes – not too much of a downgrade there in my opinion. The Kings get an expiring Julius Randle contract, a replacement at the SG spot with Frank, and Robert Williams, which would allow the Kings to start Marvin Bagley, where I think he’s best suited, which is at the center spot.

The Knicks’ new starting lineup would be something to the effect of RJ Barrett running point, Buddy Hield at shooting guard, Alec Burks at small forward, with Obi Toppin and Nerlens Noel down low.

I really want to see what RJ can do as the primary playmaker and facilitator, while putting him next to two guys who are also capable ball-handlers, and three tremendous shooters. Holmes would be the lighting to Nerlens Noel’s thunder in that they would split time at the 5 and play off each other’s strengths — Noel being the defensive-minded center and Richaun coming off the bench as a scoring big. That’s a potential 8-seed in the East if you ask me.
