Exploring the unthinkable: trade option for New York Knicks young big man Mitchell Robinson.

Time and time again, something small and insignificant, like an athlete’s cryptic Tweet, an Instagram post, or the removal of pictures and bio information can cause a major uproar amongst sports fans. As recently as the last couple of months, both Elfrid Payton and Frank Ntilikina of the New York Knicks have done as such, but the last time I checked the Knicks’ official roster, both are still on the team.

This past Thursday, Mitchell Robinson posted an Instagram story with the words “Where the loyalty at?” and social media started to buzz.

Recent reports out of Knicks camp have said that Robinson’s professionalism and commitment to improving his game have been in question ever since Coach Thibodeau came to town. Maturity seems to be a major issue that Robinson has dealt with ever since his days at Western Kentucky, where he pulled out of his classes to focus solely on basketball. This stunt cost him millions of dollars and caused him to drop into the 2nd round of the 2018 NBA draft.

It does seem like young Mitchell might be a hard person to please, as he’s switched his own agent six times in less than three seasons already. If the Knicks plan on changing the culture of the team, entertaining the idea of trading players who might cause trouble in the locker room might have to be on the table. Robinson’s trade value might also be at a strong point, considering the appeal of his upside and the two extremely cost-efficient years remaining on his contract.

Let’s review some trade proposals that might make sense for Mitchell Robinson.
