Exploring lineup combinations for the New York Knicks as the preseason begins.

The New York Knicks 2020-21 regular season is fast approaching, but before then, we’re fortunate to have a short but necessary four-game preseason schedule starting on Friday as a nice little appetizer for what’s to come.

The talent level of both preseason opponents, Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons, is on par with our beloved Knickerbockers, so showcasing a multitude of rotation combinations would be ideal during the feeling out process for a brand new coaching staff.

How the current roster stands, I would personally prefer the Knicks pull off some kind of 2-for-1 or even a 3-for-1 trade to help consolidate some of their talents into one higher-ceiling player who only takes up one roster spot.

Unfortunately, I just found out that this isn’t Burger King and I most certainly cannot have it my way, no matter how badly I want some kind of trade to happen (Editor’s Note: this was written before Austin Rivers outed Obi Toppin for being a Burger King fan).

Assuming a Buddy Hield trade, or any other trade for that matter, doesn’t go down before the season begins, the Knicks’ starters are nowhere near a given at this point in time.

It’s safe to imagine RJ Barrett in any of their possible starting lineups, but past that, everything is up in the air. With 20 players on the training camp roster, and a smorgasbord of combinations that Coach Thibs and friends will have to tinker with, here are 4 possible lineups I could see the Knicks testing out before the season opener on December 23rd against the Pacers.
