RJ Barrett: What to expect this season?

Last year was a roller-coaster season filled with multiple head coaches, extreme roster turnover, and the final 16 games being canceled due to a pandemic. In a new shortened season without fans, Barrett will have the opportunity to work on getting himself better in a stable environment filled with coaches who have a proven track record of helping players succeed.

The Knicks are entering the 2020-21 season with a clear goal in mind, building for the future. The youthful core of Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, and Obi Toppin will get plenty of opportunities to shine on a roster without a single player over 30 years old.

Even the more polarizing young players such as Frank Ntilikina, Dennis Smith Jr., and Kevin Knox will have the chance to prove their worth and see if they can remain on the Knicks for the foreseeable future.

However, the most important member of the team is undoubtedly RJ Barrett. He has the potential to be a 20+ point scorer and make numerous All-Star teams, he just needs to capitalize on it. The first step on that path is accomplishing the second-year leap that he knows he can make.

Projected 2020-21 Numbers: 17.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from the field, 33.3% from three, and 68.4% on free throws.
