What will the New York Knicks lineup look like on opening night?

Rooting for the New York Knicks is a stressful hobby. Forget the disappointments brought on by the team, if you are active on #KnicksTwitter, the daily grind of arguing among the fanbase over which player(s) deserves the most playing time can be exhausting.

Because the Knicks have been stuck in the lottery for several seasons and return this year with another unproven roster, there is plenty of room for debate over what the lineup should look like this season.

Last year, the Knicks opened the season with Allonzo Trier as the starting point guard, alongside RJ Barrett, Marcus Morris, Bobby Portis, and Julius Randle. Three of those players are no longer with the team.

New York enters camp with a full 20-man offseason roster, including two-way players Jared Harper and Theo Pinson. By the start of the regular season, the front office will need to decide who doesn’t make the cut among the 18 players on guaranteed contracts and Exhibit 10s. Only 15 can be on the bench once the schedule begins on December 22.

It seems like Jacob Evans is an obvious candidate to be waived. But one more player needs to be moved out of the way to make room for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

While the bottom of the roster is being sorted out, let’s take a look at what the starting lineup could look like on opening night.
