NBA Mock Draft: Who do the Knicks take at 8th and 27th?
11. San Antonio Spurs, Aaron Nesmith, G/F, Vanderbilt
After two decades of dominance, the Spurs are finally a team in lottery transition. They have decisions to make on several veteran pieces from DeMar DeRozan to LaMarcus Aldridge to Rudy Gay. We could see San Antonio active on the trade market.
If they keep their pick at 11, sharpshooter Aaron Nesmith would be a nice pick-up. The Vanderbilt wing has size to play multiple positions and could be the best shooter in the draft. He would give the Spurs plenty of flexibility in constructing their roster this offseason.
12. Sacramento Kings, Devin Vassell, G, Florida State
There is always one player who many mocks project to go higher than he actually does. This year it could be Florida State’s Devin Vassell. While it wouldn’t be a shocking development to see him fall to 12th, the Kings would be finding good value on a player that some believe could fall within the top 7-8 picks.
The Kings have a new management structure in place with GM Monte McNair expected to bring an analytics-bend to the team’s decision making. However, taking a high-floor player in Devin Vassell makes a lot of sense for an organization in search of stability.
