2) Best free agent power forwards: Davis Bertans

The New York Knicks have been linked as one of the teams expected to pursue Davis Bertans in free agency. It makes complete sense considering he is one of the most lethal shooters on the market.

Contract: Acquiring Bertans could prove costly from both a cap and asset standpoint, which could give a team like the Knicks pause in trying to land him. NBC Washington reported earlier this week that several teams are preparing sign-and-trade offers for Bertans. Some of these teams are reportedly over the cap, so they would need to make a trade to facilitate a deal. It’s expected that the 28-year-old will demand a contract in the $15 million annual salary range.

Game: Bertans is a player whose story can be told by two statistics: three-point attempts and three-point accuracy. The 6-foot-10 forward attempted a whopping 8.7 threes per game this past season, while connecting on 42.4 percent of them. His career 3-point percentage ranks 9th among active players. The kid can shoot. And he plays a little bit of defense despite his awkward size.

Fit: For a team that needs sharp-shooting and spacing, Bertans is the perfect fit. For the right price, the Knicks should definitely be engaged in discussions to bring a new Latvian shooter to the Garden. He would make a fun inside-outside combination with Mitchell Robinson.
