2) Best free agent centers: Montrezl Harrell

The 2019-20 NBA Sixth Man of the Year and Hustle Award winner Montrezl Harrell is an intriguing free agent center this offseason. Far from the traditional big man, Harrell has played most of his career as a center, despite his 6-foot-8 size, which he makes up for in wingspan and strength.

Contract: The 26-year-old big is coming off a two-year, $12 million deal with the Clippers. Even in a tight market, he will look to increase his annual salary this offseason, perhaps as much as double what he was making. After collecting plenty of hardware this past year for his play, several teams should be interested in adding his versatility to their lineup.

Game: Harrell is almost everything you want from a modern big man. His size allows him to match-up with both traditional centers, as well as wing players. While he doesn’t shoot many threes, he is an efficient player, scoring around the rim and getting to the free throw line. He also finds plenty of points in transition.

Fit: With Mitchell Robinson in the fold, Harrell would be the type of signing you make to bolster your depth and provide a leadership example. The Knicks can find a player like that for a cheaper price than what it will probably take to sign Harrell. So while he is the type of player Tom Thibodeau would probably love to have on his roster, I don’t see the Knicks being aggressive in pursuing him.
