3) Best free agent centers: Serge Ibaka
Just when you thought Serge Ibaka might be on the decline, he put together an impressive contract season with the Raptors to up his value this offseason.
Contract: The 31-year-old veteran could end up being the top paid center on the unrestricted free agent market, depending on what happens with Andre Drummond and his player option.
Game: Ibaka is coming off a season that saw his numbers improve across the board, from scoring to rebounding to shooting efficiency. After seeing his three-point accuracy drop to 29 percent two seasons ago, he found his stroke again this past year, connecting on 38.5 percent of his attempts from downtown. As a spot-up shooter who can also roll to the rim, he offers versatility on offense, and his usual toughness on defense.
Fit: Ibaka is not a bad fit for the Knicks. He would give them much-needed spacing in the frontcourt and defensive discipline necessary in a Tom Thibodeau-run system. However, his price point might prove a little too high for New York’s liking. They have plenty of cap space, but it seems they are hoping to use it efficiently on playmakers or wing shooters.
