Whom should the New York Knicks select with the 27th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft?

It is a strange time to be a New York Knicks fan: not because the team is in one of their longest playoff droughts in franchise history – their seven consecutive postseason misses actually ties a franchise worst – but because they have a cupboard full of draft picks.

If they keep them, New York will make multiple selections in the first round for only the second time since 2006—the year they took Kristaps Porzingis and swung a draft-night trade to secure Jerian Grant.

Beyond the first round, the Knicks also hold a pick early in the second round (38th overall) from Charlotte. From the Porzingis trade, they have two extra first round picks due to them from Dallas in future seasons.

For the first time in the modern era, the Knicks can rebuild entirely through the draft. They already have several lottery players on their roster, and they will look to add talent to that group with a new front office in place to identify the best talent available.

A lot of time has been spent focusing on whom the Knicks should select with their current lottery pick (8th overall). But finding someone late in the first round, with the 27th pick acquired from the Clippers in the Marcus Morris trade, could be the type of franchise-changing selection that sets the Knicks back on track.

Head of college scouting Walt Perrin was brought over from Utah to find gems in the draft. He will have his first opportunity on November 18.

Since there are several different avenues the Knicks can take in the draft, let’s take a look at some intriguing guard options who could be available when the Knicks make their second first round selection.
