Potential Knicks free agent targets: Shaquille Harrison, Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls enter the offseason with as many, if not more, question marks than the Knicks. After firing head coach Jim Boylen, the new front office must find a new bench chief to lead a young team under transition. Chicago’s biggest decision, beyond who leads them on the sideline, is whether to extend Zach LaVine, or perhaps better described, whether they can convince LaVine to sign a new contract.

Otto Porter Jr. would be the most intriguing free agent on the Bulls roster, but it seems unlikely he will opt out of his player option worth more than $28 million next season.

Chicago doesn’t have any unrestricted free agents hitting the market this offseason, instead, they have a list of restricted free agents in Kris Dunn, Denzel Valentine, Adam Mokoka, Shaquille Harrison, and Max Strus.

Point guard Kris Dunn would be an interesting player to target from that bunch. However, you would have to consider the cost of adding a player who profiles very similarly to Frank Ntilikina, as an elite defender who requires an offensive presence next to him to make up for his lack of scoring.

Shaquille Harrison is a fun, young player who would do well in a Tom Thibodeau system. If Chicago’s new front office is looking to shed some players to put their own stamp on the roster, perhaps Harrison can be had at a reasonable price.
