Catch up on some key rumors from this week about the New York Knicks.

It was a busy week of rumors regarding the New York Knicks, so let’s get you up to speed on the latest whispers from around the league.

Knicks interested in Fred VanVleet

The Knicks are interested in Raptors guard Fred VanVleet, according to the New York Daily News. This adds to a recent report by The Athletic that indicated the Knicks are expected to emerge as suitors for the 26-year-old point guard. VanVleet is currently in a playoff battle against the Boston Celtics. He could be the one player Leon Rose is willing to offer a long-term contract this offseason, as he preserves cap space for 2021 when several star players are expected to hit the open market.

Victor Oladipo “wants out” of Indiana

Pacers star Victor Oladipo still needs to prove he is fully recovered from a knee injury that forced him to spend 371 days between NBA games, but a recent report indicates he wants out of Indiana. According to Jonathan Macri of Knicks Film School, the Knicks could be a team looking to acquire the 2017-18 Most Improved Player.

The 28-year-old has one year remaining on a four-year, $84 million contract, so depending on whether he is seen as a long-term fit, as in whether he would be expected to sign a long-term deal with a new team, the price will fluctuate for his services.

Are dreams of Carmelo Anthony returning to New York dead?

After being eliminated from the playoffs, Carmelo Anthony made it clear that he hopes to return to Portland, where he found a home after being out of the league for several months.

"“I pray that it could be Portland,” Anthony said in answering where he hopes to play next season [via The Oregonian]. “Honestly, thank God I found a home in Portland. I got comfortable with the organization. I got comfortable with the guys on the team. They got comfortable with me. At this point in my career, I do think that that’s the best fit for me, the best situation.”"

However, Ian Begley of SNY suggests that perhaps he could warm up to the idea of returning to the Knicks if the team were to trade for his good friend Chris Paul. Both Anthony and Paul have relationships with Leon Rose from when Rose was leading CAA as a player agent.
