7. Detroit Pistons: Killian Hayes, G, Ulm
This is one prospect who is impossible to handicap in the upcoming draft. You will find mocks that have him going very early and others that have him dropping into the teens. But for a team that is currently looking at Bruce Brown as their starting point guard, Detroit could use a polished playmaker in Killian Hayes.
While only 19-years-of-age, Hayes should be ready to step into an NBA lineup after spending the past year playing professionally in Germany. At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, he already has the size to compete against NBA competition.
Known for his ability to create for others, Hayes averaged 6.2 assists in the EuroCup, while adding 12.8 points on his own, showing a new tendency to knock down threes that was missing from his game in LNB Pro A the season before.
Playing for Ulm, he shot 39% from deep on 4.1 attempts per game. However, he still needs to prove he can consistently knock down a shot from the perimeter, particularly off the catch.
Hayes’ is a safe pick for Detroit at seventh overall. He can guard multiple positions, command an offense, and he should be ready to shoulder heavy responsibilities early in his career.
