Carmelo Anthony had strong words to offer about the current unrest in the country.

Carmelo Anthony took to Instagram to voice his frustration over President Trump’s handling of protests that have grown in intensity across the country after the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man at the hands of white police officers.

The former New York Knicks star made his feelings known on Tuesday evening as protests continued for the eighth day and night.

"“So, Trump has declared war on the American people who are protesting against the killing of a black man,” Anthony said. “And still, they haven’t arrested the men who killed George Floyd.”"

The Trump Administration has threatened to use military force to quell the violence that has marred mostly peaceful protests that have gathered in support of social justice against racism and police brutality.

Anthony joins a growing list of NBA stars who are using their platforms to promote positive change.

The All-Star forward’s name has resurfaced in talks about the Knicks recently, as the team is reportedly looking for a forward who can “knock down a shot” this offseason. While there are no direct reports of a possible Melo reunion in New York, the possibility lingers as his former agent Leon Rose is now president of the team.

New York Knicks refuse to issue statement condemning racism and police brutality.

The New York Knicks have come under scrutiny in recent days for their failure to issue a statement condemning racism and police brutality, as all but one other NBA franchise (San Antonio Spurs) has done.

Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan sent an email to employees explaining why the company has decided to remain silent. Once that email was leaked to the press, Dolan sent a follow-up email clarifying his intent and making it clear the team opposes racism, as several MSG employees were reportedly frustrated with the lack of public comment.

The Knicks did join several brands in participating in #BlackoutTuesday on Instagram.

Meanwhile, several Knicks players have expressed their feelings and support for protesters using their personal social media accounts. Dennis Smith Jr. was seen participating in a protest in Arkansas.
