New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is taking up challenges on social media.

New York Knicks fans have hyped themselves over workout videos from the days of Hoodie Melo. But there’s a new sheriff in town named Mitchell Robinson. The athletic big man has been exciting fans with his long-range shooting and deft ball-handling on several social media videos shared out during the quarantine.

Now, the sophomore center is taking up quarantine trick shot challenges on Twitter.

After @wjosh504 posted a video of himself swishing a shot from a second floor balcony several feet away from the perimeter of a backyard court, he asked if “anybody wan challenge me to sum Quarantine trick shots??”

On queue, Mitchell Robinson replied, “I will.” He later quoted the original request and said, “I challenge you bro.” It’s unclear if Robinson has a previous relationship with the individual in the video.

Mitchell Robinson has been teasing New York Knicks fans with his perimeter shot.

Knicks fans have been waiting for Robinson to unleash his perimeter shot in actual gameplay. Despite flashing his ability to knock down a long-distance shot on social media videos, the Louisiana native has yet to attempt a three-pointer in the NBA. During the 2019-20 season, he has attempted only five shots beyond five feet, and only one that was more than ten feet from the hoop.

Robinson’s range has essentially been dunking the basketball.

If Robinson can add a perimeter shot to his game, he could be unstoppable. He has already proved impossible to slow down when rolling to the rim; imagine if defenders need to respect his shot by stepping forward rather than immediately back-peddling once he receives the ball in his hands?!

The NBA is in the process of finalizing plans for a potential resumption to the 2019-20 season. It is unclear if the Knicks will be required to participate, although it seems unlikely that all 30 teams will be called back to play.

Perhaps fans will at least get a chance to see Robinson show off his skills in a trick shot challenge.
