Why Knicks should consider reuniting with Langston Galloway: 3) Fit alongside RJ Barrett

The New York Knicks have utilized RJ Barrett in a number of different roles this season. It started with his being treated as something of a James Harden type, with a focus on creating for both himself and others.

Barrett ultimately settled into a score-first mentality as a rookie, but as a downhill player who can find the open man, he’ll need a shooter working alongside him.

Galloway could be the perfect complement in that regard, as he’s actually at his best in such a scenario. He’s shooting 40.7 percent on catch and shoot three-point field goals during the 2019-20 season, during which he operated alongside a ball-dominant scoring guard: Derrick Rose.

Offensively, Galloway could be the ideal fit alongside Barrett when it comes time for the former Duke Blue Devils star to run the offense.

Defensively, Galloway’s toughness and commitment is exactly what the Knicks need. He and Frank Ntilikina would be a tough defensive backcourt to score on, and he could offer relief to Barrett when New York’s rising star needs a breather.

Between his individual capabilities and his fit alongside the current Knicks guards, a reunion with Galloway makes sense on paper.
