The New York Knicks may want to look to the past in order to improve the future. Detroit Pistons guard Langston Galloway would be a perfect fit.
The New York Knicks have made a concerted effort to distance the present from the past. In many regards, that’s a wise strategy for a franchise that’s managed to make just four postseason appearances since 2001.
As Leon Rose and Scott Perry work together to help the Knicks return to prominence, however, a blast from the past may be an asset to the process.
New York will enter the 2020 NBA offseason with a need for improvement in the backcourt. RJ Barrett is locked in as the starter at the 2-spot, but New York needs stability at point guard and depth beyond Barrett.
For those who endured the lowest points of the Knicks’ recent woes, a familiar face may help provide an answer: Langston Galloway.
Galloway went undrafted in 2014, but managed to work his way up from the G League to the main roster. He made the All-Rookie Second Team in 2014-15, and helped New York improved from 17-65 to 32-50 with his contributions off the bench in 2015-16.
Having discovered his role within an NBA rotation, a reunion between Galloway and the Knicks could result in the franchise taking a step towards relevance.
Let’s discuss why Galloway makes sense for New York.
