A few interesting tidbits about New York Knicks new assistant GM Frank Zanin.
The New York Knicks might be sidelined from conducting their usual business on the court, but that hasn’t stopped them from adding to their front office staff. On Tuesday, reports circulated that Frank Zanin will be hired as an assistant GM under new president Leon Rose.
Zanin was working as a scout for the Oklahoma City Thunder, after a long tenure working under former Nets general manager Billy King.
The Knicks front office under Rose is now taking shape. Since the basketball season was shutdown due to COVID-19, besides the Zanin hire, the Knicks have added cap specialist Brock Aller, assistant GM and college scout Walt Perrin, along with retaining general manager Scott Perry.
Some Knicks fans were initially worried about Perry remaining in his current role for one more season under Rose. While the departure of long-time Garden exec Steve Mills was met with applause, some called for a wholesale change in the front office.
With the recent executive hirings, Rose is building a staff filled with talent from all over the league. Each hire seems to be respected by players and league officials. The Knicks appear to be taking a step in the right direction.
After getting to know Walt Perrin yesterday, let’s learn a little about Frank Zanin.
