The New York Knicks have options at the 2020 NBA Draft, but the power forward position may be the most intriguing for the front office to evaluate.

The New York Knicks have talent across the board. Frank Ntilikina and Elfrid Payton make for a respectable combination at point guard, RJ Barrett and Kevin Knox have upside on the wings, and Mitchell Robinson looks the part of a potential All-NBA center.

Debates will immediately arise about the quality of talent at each of those positions, but the one area of absolute uncertainty appears to be power forward.

Julius Randle began to turn things around under interim head coach Mike Miller, but the general consensus is that the Knicks need a long-term alternative. Randle is signed through 2021-22, but the final year of his contract is only partially guaranteed.

Compounded by the report that some players on the Knicks aren’t especially happy with Randle’s style of play, it may not be a bad idea to explore all options.

This isn’t to say that Randle can’t become the player that he was paid to be, but the Knicks need to keep their options open. Thankfully, there are a number of power forwards to be found at the 2020 NBA Draft, including a select few who could be starters for quite some time in New York.

The New York Knicks will need to define the ideology of the franchise moving forward before making this selection, but the talent available is undeniable.

In some regards: It may even be the missing piece that puts the Knicks back in the postseason picture.
