Against Hiring Thibodeau

3) Out of the league for few years/league has changed

Thibodeau did coach two years ago, but has not had real success in the league for five years. His time with the Bulls was great for the way basketball was played at that time when teams played slower and didn’t shoot as many threes. Today’s game is played a lot faster with more emphasis on scoring in the paint and perimeter shooting.

Can he adjust? Will he hire someone to run the offense for him?

Thibodeau’s success has been with more seasoned players, usually led by an elite go-to player in the offense. The Knicks lack a star right now, and they are a young team that needs to develop their youth through balanced minutes. Thibodeau’s track record does not seem to fit the roster the Knicks have right now.

It’s hard to then see if he could succeed with the Knicks, without any track record of developing young players successfully. In the end, there are probably more reasons against hiring Thibodeau than for the idea.
