Pro: Finding A Go-To Player

The New York Knicks have promising talent to be found at most positions, but there’s a glaring absence of a go-to player. There are many who are capable of contributing strong minutes, but no one has established their status as the featured player down the stretch of games.

Victor Oladipo has questions that need to be answered, but at 100 percent, he’s proven to be a lethal scorer who’s capable of going up against the best in the NBA.

For proof: The Indiana Pacers squared off against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs. Oladipo was sublime, averaging 22.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.4 steals while helping Indiana push the Cavaliers to seven games.

There were some down showings from Oladipo, but he also scored 32 points in Game 1 and went for 28 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, and four steals in Game 6.

Although James and the Cavaliers won the series, Oladipo capped his showcasing round off with 30 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in Game 7. It was a star-making performance that saw the former Indiana Hoosiers star live up to the potential that so many believe he has.

2018-19 was plagued and ultimately ended by injuries, but even then: Oladipo managed to average upwards of 20 points per 36 minutes as the go-to crunchtime scorer on a winning team.

If healthy, Oladipo could fill the ultimate void for the Knicks.
