The Dallas Game

5. Lin knocks down a three over Dirk Nowitzki

The Knicks afternoon win against Dallas in the middle of Linsanity is one of my favorite regular season games for a few reasons:

ONE: It was one of the few times in the new millennium when it felt like the good ol’ days of the NBA on NBC when the Knicks were good and the NBC jingle was the soundtrack of my childhood. An afternoon home game with the Knicks seemingly unbeatable.

TWO: Besides Lin, I also remember this as the J.R. Smith game, when he made his Knicks debut, knocked down some big threes, and celebrated on center court.

But the day belonged mostly to Lin, who poured in 28 more points and 14 assists on way to a 104-97 Knicks victory. While this game is often celebrated in Jeremy Lin countdowns, the moment that sometimes gets lost in the shuffle is his clutch three over Dirk Nowitzki near the end of the fourth quarter.

Lin’s only official game-winning shot during Linsanity came against Toronto, but he had so many plays like his three over Dirk that catapulted the Knicks to victory late in games
