The New York Knicks are believed to be in the market for a point guard. Which prospects should they target at the 2020 NBA Draft?

The New York Knicks selected All-Star point guard Mark Jackson in 1987 and All-NBA floor general Rod Strickland in 1988. In the 31 years that have followed, the Knicks have failed to draft a point guard who has gone on to make the All-Star Game.

Perhaps that trend could end in 2020, when the Knicks will have a chance to find a point guard who can lock down the position for years to come.

There are an abundance of options at the NBA Draft, as well as potential candidates to consider in free agency. Regardless of which path the Knicks choose, it’s generally agreed upon that the need for stability at point guard is a top priority in New York.

Thankfully, the draft is rich with point guard talent that may not be guaranteed to succeed, but has the upside to intrigue even the most jaded of general managers.

In some situations, the point guards who project to be available are those with legitimate All-Star potential. In others, the players may not ever reach the All-Star level, but project to be long-term starters who can hold their own against a high level of competition.

The question is: Who exactly should the New York Knicks be scouting and evaluating if the goal is to select a point guard at the 2020 NBA Draft?

We have some ideas.
